Along the way, we’ll make a stop in a cedar forest to observe the Barbary monkeys, which are native to the region.

Next, we will stop for meal lunch at a restaurant along the route. Afterward, we’ll continue our journey through the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis filled with palm trees. We’ll take a break at a panoramic viewpoint to enjoy the breathtaking views of the valley. We will reach the desert in the afternoon, where your camels will be waiting to take you across the golden dunes to your luxury or traditional desert camp.

Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to watch the sunset from a high dune. Our Desert Excursion begins with a visit to local nomadic families living in traditional tents. We will drink tea with them and learn about their way of life in the Sahara desert. Next, we head to Khamlia Village to experience the unique sounds of Gnawa music, explore the local museum, enjoy traditional tea, and try Berber pizza for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit Lake Dayet Srji, a popular spot for birdwatching, and then explore a small oasis near the dunes. Finally, we make our way to a hotel or riad, where we will spend the night.

Day 3Merzouga Sahara Desert - Rissani - Erfoud - Ziz Valley - Midelt - Ifrane - Fes

Wake up early in the morning to contemplate the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. Enjoy some free time for breakfast, then return by camel or 4×4 vehicle to Merzouga, where your driver awaits. Afterward, we leave the desert and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains a major trading center in the region, with a large souk that comes alive on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After strolling through the Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud, where we visit one of the workshops that produce fossilized marble. We then drive along the Ziz River and stop for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley.

You’ll have some free time for lunch in Midelt before continuing to the Cedars Forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed them while wandering through the forest. You will have plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs, as we will stop for coffee, lunch, photographs, and travel through forests, valleys, and mountains. We will reach the “Switzerland of Morocco,” Ifrane, known for being the cleanest and most charming city in Morocco.
