You will also enjoy the spectacular landscapes of the Atlas Mountains and Ziz Valley in Errachidia. Additionally, you will visit the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, where you can ride camels, spend the night in a camp in the middle of the desert, and experience magical sunsets and sunrises. Afterward, you will visit the Barbary macaques in the Cedar Forest and explore the “Switzerland of Morocco,” Ifrane. Finally, the tour will end back in Fes.
Our 7 days family tour from Fes begins with a transfer from the airport to your hotel or riad. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to visit a part of the Fes Medina.
After a hearty breakfast, we begin our guided tour of the new part of the city. We’ll visit the Royal Palace and the Jewish quarter (Mellah), followed by a stop at a viewpoint where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Medina, including the Torre del Sur and several mosques.
Next, we’ll walk through the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its labyrinthine alleys are home to various guilds, including potters, dyers, and many more. The lively atmosphere will transport you back in time. You’ll quickly notice that this medieval city has remained virtually unchanged, with time seemingly frozen on the clock at La Magana Bou Inania, which has been standing for over 1,200 years.
After breakfast, we drive to Chefchaouen, passing through the scenic landscapes of the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen is a popular destination in Morocco, attracting thousands of visitors each year. It is a peaceful and charming town located in the heart of the Rif Mountains, south of the Mediterranean Sea in northern Morocco. The city is famous for its unique blue color, with buildings painted in various soothing shades of blue that are said to reduce blood pressure in seconds. Known as the (Blue Pearl) or (Blue City) of Morocco, the buildings are coated with talc or chalk, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere.
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, we’ll take a leisurely walk through the Medina, exploring its iconic white and blue walls. We will also visit the markets, where you can find distinctive indigenous crafts. With stunning views of the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is a wonderful destination for photography. Accommodation will be in a riad or hotel, including bed and breakfast.
After breakfast in Chefchaouen, we continue our journey to Boulaajoul Village. We will head towards Volubilis, crossing the Rif Mountains and passing through Ouezzane and other villages along the way. Upon arriving in Volubilis, we will explore the Roman ruins and learn about their significance in Moroccan history.
After visiting this historical site, we will proceed to the city of Meknes, where we’ll stroll around the massive historic walls of the Medina, visit the famous Bab El Mansour gate, and explore the Moulay Ismail Sanctuary.
We will stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our drive across the Atlas Mountains toward Boulaajoul, where we will arrive in the evening. Dinner and accommodation will be provided at the hotel.
After breakfast, we begin our journey, driving through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Then, we head toward the Sahara Desert, passing through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass. We’ll continue our trip through the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis filled with palm trees. We’ll take a break at a panoramic viewpoint to enjoy the breathtaking views of the valley. We stop for lunch at a restaurant along the way.
In the afternoon, we will reach the desert, where your camels will be waiting to take you across the golden dunes to your luxury or traditional Desert Camp. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to watch the sunset from a high dune. Once we arrive at the campsite, the staff will escort you to your private tent, where you can relax and freshen up with a shower. After a delicious dinner, the team will light a bonfire, and you can enjoy the warm atmosphere while the Berbers drum and sing, creating a magical desert evening.
Wake up early in the morning to contemplate the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. Enjoy some free time for breakfast, then return by camel or 4×4 vehicle to Merzouga, where your driver awaits. Afterward, we leave the desert and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains a major trading center in the region, with a large souk that comes alive on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After strolling through the Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud, where we visit one of the workshops that produce fossilized marble. We then drive along the Ziz River and stop for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley.
You’ll have some free time for lunch in Midelt before continuing to the Cedars Forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed them while wandering through the forest. You will have plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs, as we will stop for coffee, lunch, photographs, and travel through forests, valleys, and mountains. We will reach the “Switzerland of Morocco,” Ifrane, known for being the cleanest and most charming city in Morocco. Finally, we will arrive in Fes, spend the night in hotel or riad.
After breakfast, you have the morning free until the agreed time for your transfer to the airport. It is recommended to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours in advance. This concludes our services and marks the end of your family tour from Fes.
