Embark on a 6 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes, exploring Morocco’s stunning landscapes. Journey through the High Atlas Mountains, visit the iconic Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, Ouarzazate, and the Dades Gorges. Experience the Sahara Desert in Merzouga with a camel ride and a night in a desert camp. Discover Rissani’s market, the fossil town of Erfoud, and the scenic Ziz Valley. Visit Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and explore the cedar forests before reaching Fes. This tour combines history, nature, and unique experiences, ending in the imperial city of Fes.
Our desert trip begins with a pick-up from your hotel/riad in Marrakech, followed by a drive towards Ouarzazate. We’ll pass through the Tizi N’tichka Pass (2,260 m in altitude), offering stunning views over the mountains and traditional High Atlas Berber villages. Next, we’ll make a short stop at Telouat Kasbah for a brief visit, before continuing on the road to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. There, we’ll take a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site and enjoy the breathtaking architecture. After the visit, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
In the afternoon, we’ll drive through Ouarzazate to visit the famous Atlas Studios, one of the largest film studios in the world. We’ll then reach Ouarzazate to spend the night at a comfortable hotel or riad in the city.
After breakfast, we drive to Skoura, a lush palm oasis surrounded by dramatic mountains and traditional Berber villages. It is known for its palm groves, kasbahs, and small adobe villages. We will stop to visit the Amridil Kasbah, one of the best-preserved kasbahs in the region, and enjoy a peaceful stroll through the palm groves.
Next, we head towards Boumalne Dades, passing through the Kelaa M’Gouna Rose Valley, famous for its rose gardens and the production of rose-based products such as perfumes and oils. The valley is especially stunning in spring when the roses are in full bloom. We will take time to explore the valley and visit local rose farms before continuing to Boumalne Dades. There, we will visit the Dades Valley and enjoy its breathtaking landscapes and dramatic rock formations. Finally, we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel or riad in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, our trip begins with a drive through the Dades Valley, stopping to admire the stunning Dades Gorges. We continue to the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a dramatic canyon. After lunch, we continue the road through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, and Erfoud, arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon. Here, we ride camels across the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, stopping to watch a magical sunset. We then head to the luxury/Traditional desert camp, where you’ll enjoy the welcoming Tea and Berber drum music, dancing, and a delicious dinner under the stars.
After breakfast, we leave the desert and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani is still a major trading hub in the region, and its souk comes alive on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After exploring the vibrant souk, we continue on to Erfoud, where we visit a workshop that produces fossilized marble.
Next, we drive along the Ziz River, making a stop to enjoy the panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. You’ll have some free time for lunch in Midelt before we continue to the Cedars Forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed them while you wander through the forest. We will take several breaks for coffee, lunch, photographs, and to stretch our legs as we travel through forests, valleys, and mountains.
Our journey continues to Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its charming, clean atmosphere. It is the last city before Fes. We will arrive at your hotel/riad in Fes by noon, giving you time to rest and relax. In the evening, we’ll meet again to prepare for the next day, when we will explore the historic city of Fes.
After breakfast, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Fes to explore the city, one of Morocco’s imperial and cultural centers. We’ll start with a visit to the Royal Palace gate, then tour the medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include the Blue Gate, Medrasa Bouanania, Najjarine Fountain, Tanneries, and the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University. We’ll also visit the Jewish Quarter (Mellah) and enjoy panoramic views from an ancient fortress before returning to your riad.
After breakfast, depending on your flight time, you can have a free time to stroll in the Fes city, before we transfer you to the airport. End of the 6 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech To Fes
